My latest publication on Amazon Kindle is something of a departure for me. I’ve published the occasional mystery short story before, but never anything full length. But over six days this month, I sat down and wrote my first ever full length (about the same size as ‘Double Indemnity’) hardboiled detective novel. It’s called The Desert Keeps Its Dead. In it, a former FBI agent called Matt Barrett has been hired to track down a seventeen year-old runaway girl from Oklahoma City. He traces her as far as as Arizona, only to find her in a shallow grave. Searching for her murderer, he starts to realize he is on the trail of a serial killer who’s been operating for years. You can find out more about the book right here.

Oh, and on a related subject, my futuristic mystery tale ‘The Very Edge of New Harare’ is now out in the Jan/Feb issue of Alfred Hitchcock’s Mystery Magazine.

It’s been an awfully long time since I’ve even submitted anything to Alfred Hitchcock’s Mystery Magazine, but they have recently bought ‘The Very Edge of New Harare,’ a murder mystery set in an Africa of the not-too-far future.

I was at the Amnesty International Bookshop in Brighton on June 18th, reading both my story ‘Sense’ from the Never Again anthology and an old favourite of mine, ‘Lightning Dogs.’ It was a great evening and well attended. Thanks to everyone who came.

I’ve recently put two new books out on Amazon Kindle, both short story collections. They are ‘Dark Futures: SF meets Horror,’ which kind of speaks for itself; and ‘Sherlock Holmes in the 21st Century,’ in which the great detective arrives in our modern age to find himself confronted by baffling, and dangerous, supernatural mysteries. You can find out more about them, and my other e-book publications, here.
